Lesson description:

Successful endoscopic therapy in the bilio-pancreatic region is dependent on a correct understanding of the indications and possibilities of endoscopic therapy. The most common indication for ERCP is to reestablish correct drainage of the bile ducts in patients with stones and tumors in the bile duct and/or pancreas. Treatment of surgical complications such as bile leaks and strictures is also possible via ERCP. Advances in endoscopic technique have also made possible the approach of novel indications such as treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis cases, including such complications as pseudocysts and the disconnected duct syndrome.

Lecture during Nov 19 session.
