Lesson description:

Obstructive jaundice and bile leaks are indications for percutaneous biliary interventions. Uncomplicated obstructive jaundice is not an emergency, while septic cholangitis needs urgent intervention. The preprocedural patient evaluation consists in clinical examination, imaging, and laboratory testing (liver function tests, blood count). After the procedure, follow-up has to take into account patient condition, drainage volume and characteristics, and evaluation for catheter removal or additional procedures.
