Laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been performed on a large scale since the early nineties. 

After thirty years, the rate of bile duct injury associated with the procedures is still higher than the rate reported at the time of open cholecystectomy. The treatment of these lesions has been improved during these years, and now is relatively well codified and multidisciplinary.
