Lesson description:

The highest incidence of stomach cancer is observed in Asia, particularly in Korea, Japan and China. Gastrectomy by conventional surgery techniques has been developed and studied meticulously in these countries. Although the laparoscopic approach for gastric cancer was first described in Europe, it is clear that proof of concept, which requires a significant number of patients, is more easily studied in teams completely dedicated to the pathology. This is the case in Korea, where surgeons have launched numerous randomized studies comparing minimally invasive and conventional surgery.

Gastric cancer surgery must follow well-defined rules, not only in terms of patient selection and procedure, but also in terms of quality of the performed surgery.
